Candace settled and she deserves the peace.
by snare&racket in"hot topic on topix seems to be candace conti settlement.
but it's all quiet here.
are you guys aware that your hero, who was not in it for the money but to change policies, settled without changing anything?".

She walked the valley of dark shadow, fought a legal powerhouse and came away with a legal president that would qualify for hero status. It would take a big man to be able to walk shoulder to shoulder with that lady. -

What is God Asking Back of You?
by berrygerry inthis was going through my mind last night.. reviewing 2 key scriptures - james 1:27 - orphans and widows.
and micah 6:8 - what is god asking back?.
so, i start looking for this verse on www.biblehub.com, but every translation says "requires.".

I am of the same opinion as you that Micah 6:8 and James 1:27 are two of the most powerful verses which define the nature of true worship. They are major reasons as to why my sentiments are with aligned those using this site.
My 5 sons refer to Micah 6:8 as Dad's two hour sermons of 20+ years ago where I tried to get them to see the point of the church's new thinking on 'types and antitypes' that Fred Franz was basicly full of shit.
The 'Bible Hub' is a very good site. I have been using it to help a researcher understand the major change in the new RNWT on Lev.5:1. Hopefully that project will be completed here shortly. I have a 25 year letter writing campaign that was refered to in the 2013 summer talk "Human Apostates" that hinges on this new rendering in the RNWT.
When ever someone like you uses Micah and James there is a feeling that goes through me of a kindred spirit. Personally I feel those who have great respect of those two verses sit at the same table in the realm of WBTS opposition folks.

"No Elder has the Authority to Tell You what to do with Your Health--- Except for Blood!"
by FusionTheism inwatchtower simplified edition, september 2015, "is your conscience a reliable guide:".
a branch office or the local congregation elders do not have the authority to make medical decisions for a christian, even if he asks what to do.
(galatians 6:5) however, the elders can share what jehovah says in order to help a christian make a wise decision.

I have a ER doctor friend who was raised a JW [he was in his mid teen's when he realized he needed no part of that future]. He told me every hospital room keeps the WBTS book on blood in the ER room. The reason was that it was used to educate the church goers as to what there own policies with blood because it save vast amounts of valuable time and arguing due to the ignorance of their own church policies. Prior to the book the whole emergency room was put on hold until the patient consulted with their church elders. The readers of this site are well aware of the problems of conversing with the 'faithful', the doctors are very thankful that the blood procedure book has alleviated that problem for them. -

To My Generation: Jehovah's Witnesses of the Vietnam War Era
by Hold Me-Thrill Me into my generation: jehovah's witnesses of the vietnam war era .
if you were a young brother in the late 60's you then remember the burden of the draft and the prospect of going to jail for refusing on religious grounds to be called up.
in those days we were taught that to do community service was conscientiously the same as joining the military and so we were told to refuse such exemptions.

How well I rembember. I was instructed in writing that community service in lieu of military induction was a compromise of conscience. I was sentenced in 1968 to pay a $3,000.00 fine and 5 years probation. The judge in Sacramento was a fan of Abraham Lincoln where you could buy your way out of army for $300.00, he tacked on a zero for inflation. He reasoned why send us to prison, the only thing that did was to cost the govt. money to house us, whereas a fine was bringing in money. It took me 7 years to pay off that fine. And I still am pissed about it. -

3rd Gen DF'd finally writing
by AFreeBeliever ini've been reading many of the postings on this forum for a couplefew years, finally joined today.
i think reading cappytan, and others like that, compelled me to share, it seems i might have a bit of a different outcome than many i have read, perhaps it will be hopeful/helpful to someone.. i was a born-in, 3rd gen jw, my entire family (parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and most all of my childhood friends) were in.
some dropped by the wayside as the years went on, but many stayed in, and if they didn't, they still acted/talked as if they believed it was "the truth" and it was their weaknesses/failings that made them stop attending.

Interesting as of how today connection is made that you and I are family. I always enjoyed being arould Norma Lee and Punk just shows how not living in a family is not knowing what goes on. The last time I talked with Judy I could well se what you were up against as she was the local recruiter sending boys to Bethel.
For what it is worth I went into the 'valley of dark shadow' with a special verse in the Bible Micah 6:8 and went through the valley with the realization that everything we learned about the heavenly persons and personalities was true. In my mind I strung together Micah 6:8, Matt.23:23 justice, mercy & faithfulness and Jas.1:27 that true worship from the point of view of God was in our love in him as expressed in how we conducted our life as towards showing the qualties love, kindness, justice and mercy toward his creation. That realization makes possible the view that true worshipers exist through out the various multitudes of religious entities, yet not the posssession of their church rulers, as it is hearts that define worship not dogma. I kept the 'baby' when throwing out the wash water but unlike you I am alone as alone can be, due to my fighting the church.
I will PM you it would be interesting find out the name of a long lost cousin.

Introducing myself
by Bill Covert init was suggested that i do a post of introducing myself rather than just starting to do posting.
i am one of those viet nam war felons who had to refuse community service in lieu of military induction per direct instructions of wbts.
my mother was from a old time jw family in the calif. bay area the "garigs".

Amazing This is something quite unexpected, Yes it is cool.
I really liked your dad and your uncle Jim, I thought Judy's side of the family had a lot more going than the Garig side. I just got on this site about a month ago, yet I have been monitoring it for a couple of years to keep up on internal changes with in the church.I use the material for a letter writing campaign I have been running for several years, it even got included in the "Human Apostate" talk a couple of years ago. I have been fighting the church very hard in the Redding area for many years trying to break their mental hold on famlies minds. Been running a technical angle with a Bible verse relating to a securties fraud. Pretty much at the point of either winning or losing in next few months.
I will try to connect with you on the privite message side and we can talk family and get to know you.
Shalom Bill

jwleaks I noticed. Mayby we can do some business. Read my two posts real carefully see if you can pick up on the fine point of how the new Revised NWT rendition of Lev.5:1 has the ability to show that the JW church policy of informing on your brothers is solely based on a deception found in the Sept 1 1987 Wt article "A Time To Speak When". Barbara Anderson and I have been working on this project ever since the RNWT was released. Problem being that is one busy lady. Yesterday she sent me a draft on the the issue of which she sees the value in regard to the molestation issues. I spent the afternoon working on my input. The point is one of those hard to see points but then when you do see it there is a big picture behind it. We will get something worked up to be posted.
As I stated in my posts this fine point is what was the subject of those letters refered to in the Human Apostate talk a couple of years ago. It is also the subject of the letters Barbara remembers from when she was in Bethel when she asked me if perchance I was the man in Northern Calif. who wrote the most offensive letters on anyone in the USA, to which I said bingo. Some how the church took offence when I told them that "I was going to shove a swindler Ray Dale up the Governing Bodies ass so far and so hard that they were forever going to have a foul taste in their mouths and and I was going to use Lev.5:1 to do it".
